VERMONT PRIVACY REGULATION EFFECTIVE SOON

The State of Vermont adopted new privacy regulations effective November 17, 2001. Financial institutions have 90 days after the effective date to comply with the regulation.

The regulation is patterned after the federal privacy rule, but requires opt‑in rather than opt‑out with regard to the disclosure of non‑public personal financial information to nonaffiliated third parties.
